Prominent Display of Key Terms and Conditions by Airlines

September 1, 2024

Every air ticket comes with the Terms and Conditions (T&Cs), which outline important details about your purchase. While reading through T&Cs might seem tedious, it is crucial to understand your rights and responsibilities as a consumer before confirming your booking.

To ensure transparency, airlines are required to prominently display the following key T&Cs before you purchase an air ticket:

  • Cancellation fees

  • Refunds and rebooking policies

  • Baggage allowance policies

  • No-show policies  (when a consumer does not turn up for a booked flight at the airport)

  • Validity of passenger’s travel documents

These requirements also apply to tickets purchased through travel agents.

If you are unsure about any of the terms, it is advisable to check with the airline for clarification before completing your purchase. Familiarising yourself with the T&Cs ensures you are aware of important details, such as cancellation fees or baggage allowances, which may affect your travel plans.
